Teaching Philosophy

As an instructor and parent, I strongly embrace the principles put forth by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki.  His precept that “every child can” resonates with my own approach in creating a positive learning environment and musical experience for each child.  Learning the technique of playing violin not only results in beautiful music, but also benefits the student by fostering positive self-esteem, perserverence, self-discipline, memory skills, creativity, and self expression.  Learning in a positive teaching environment also provides the parent and child an experience of working cooperatively.  Developing musical ability taps into the full potential of each person.

Within the Suzuki context, the child, teacher and parent have equal respect and communication with each other.  I strive to provide a positive and encouraging lesson environment for your child and I will provide you with techniques and ideas to help you and your child during practice at home.
